Pork Rinds Purveyor Finds Great Partner in HNRY Logistics
Fewer delays, better communication and more careful handling prove to be a recipe for success.
With almost 65 years of success in the snack food industry, the Rudolph Foods Company is the nation’s leading provider of pork rinds and cracklin snacks. The company sells their products to major retailers throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico, and they also offer private label manufacturing for other major players in the snack food industry.
Rudolph Foods operates a complex distribution network, regularly shipping pork rind pellets and other ingredients to processing and packaging plants, as well as to customer locations, and streamlined logistics are critical to their success. Rudolph Foods began working with a new freight carrier, HNRY Logistics, for some of the shipping needs from their Atlanta location. The company was impressed by the open communication and on-time pickups that HNRY Logistics provided. This proved to be the beginning of a mutually beneficial relationship with HNRY Logistics.
HNRY Logistics now provides both truckload and less-than-truckload (LTL) shipping services to Rudolph Foods on an ongoing basis, working closely with Rudolph Foods’ contacts to anticipate needs and address challenges — even helping the company keep up with demand when an improvement project shifted production to other locations.
“Our reps at HNRY Logistics have been extremely communicative and open with us,” said Michele Caprella, warehouse supervisor for Rudolph Foods. “We talk through any issues that arise, no matter how minor. Unforeseen delays can happen, but we aren’t left in the dark. We have the relationships in place to get answers and resources quickly when we need them. If there is a possibility a truck would be late or if we haven’t called in our loads, we can always depend on a call from the terminal to check in on us. Everyone has been so proactive, and it’s been a smooth partnership from the start.”
HNRY Logistics was initially tasked with handling some of Rudolph Food’s most demanding or difficult-to-cover shipping lanes, but as they excelled and Rudolph Foods found HNRY Logistics’ costs to be extremely competitive, the relationship between the two companies expanded. To date, HNRY Logistics has improved on-time pickup rates and made sure trucks are loaded on time. They have also helped Rudolph Foods address a long-standing challenge: lost and damaged freight.
“Pork rinds are an inherently fragile product, and inventory can be crushed easily, which is frustrating for our customers,” Caprella explained. “Damaged goods can mean a damaged reputation, but since HNRY has taken over, we have seen a drastic reduction in damaged freight.”
Rudolph Foods continues to grow rapidly, and they expect their strong relationship with HNRY Logistics to help ensure their shipping needs are met moving forward. No matter where Rudolph Foods’ routes take them across North America, they feel comfortable that HNRY Logistics will be there to help them achieve their goals and minimize costs in the process.
“We are saving with each HNRY Logistics shipment thanks to their pricing, protection of our cargo, respect for our time and open communication,” Caprella reflected. “With dozens of loads reaching their destination seamlessly each week, fewer headaches due to damaged shipments and constant communication from HNRY Logistics, we couldn’t be happier with the partnership.”
